ABOUT ME

My name is Anna Dufour Montuori.

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP).

I hold a postgraduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy and have solid experience working in clinical settings within NHS mental health services. I also have a background in arts and value creativity.

I approach counselling with a holistic mindset and believe an accepting connection between body and mind is essential for our wellbeing. I am an integrative practitioner which means I recognise that everybody has different therapeutic needs; this is why I actively listen to you and aim for us to co-create an approach that works for you and your goals.

This might mean resourcing your psycho-education better to understand your emotions and reactions to life events, using psychodynamic principles to investigate how past events affect your current relationships, or using CBT tools to stimulate change.

I grew up in a multicultural family setting and moved to London as an adult, I am drawn to exploring what makes up our personal and collective identities. In the context of generational family migrations, I am passionate about the importance of autonomy, resourcefulness and resilience.

Some of my areas
of expertise are:

  • Sexuality

  • Gender Identity

  • Childhood trauma

  • Cultural Identity

  • Depression and Anxiety

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Loss

  • Life transitions

  • Relationships and dating

  • Guilt and Shame

  • Coping with societal expectations

As a registered member of the BACP, I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to its Professional Conduct Procedures.

WHAT TO EXPECT?
WHAT IS THERAPY LIKE?

Counselling or psychotherapy?

Both of these terms can be used interchangeably to describe the creative process of increasing self-awareness and stimulating change that we will undertake together.

During the sessions, you can expect to explore both your current challenges and how past experiences impact your daily life; with the ultimate aim to strengthen your sense of self and build a life that nurtures your needs for enjoyment, achievement and connection. We will delve into your inner world collaboratively with empathic regard for your culture and beliefs.

You might feel nervous or vulnerable at the idea of sharing your personal experience with a new therapist; you might also worry about the stigma of accessing support. This is why we spend time building a warm therapeutic relationship that fosters safety and trust.

The information you share with me during the sessions is confidential unless you are a risk to yourself or someone else. In these cases, I would always endeavour to discuss the need to breach confidentiality with you before taking action.
